Ronda Roussey

A few sketch pitches with her:

Graverobbing- a why are you here scenario? Cast is sprinkled about a cemetery. Main character is a cop, making sure no one does any "weird stuff" but normal hijinx is "fine by me"

Re-enactment of Andy Kaufman fighting bout.

Regular sketch pitches for the week

Pizza makers- a story of a person who wanted certain topping on certain slices, they didn’t think they could make it but at the end they put their minds to it

Failed TV shows: White Cop Black People  (who thought that would be a good idea the LAPD?)

Ghost Mom- When Julie's horribly naggy mom died a horribly gruesome death, she thought her problems were over. Boy was she wrong. Now Julie's mom goes everywhere she goes in "Ghost Mom"

Looking busy - (a boss test okay, everyone looks busy)

Dance Club Boothwarmers- more of a concept, holding a booth at a club takes serious skill and concentration.  Maybe it's a commercial.

Adam Driver

A few sketch pitches with him:

1: Kylo Ren in ApprenticeFinder.com Kylo decides he needs an apprentice.  Either this is one of those startup intro videos where Kylo is the case study or Kylo is actively going on ApprenticeFinder.com and clicking on different profiles.

2: Monologue: Lena Dunham comes out first to introduce her BFF, soaking up airtime. Adam asks what she’s doing. “This is for me, this is my turn, I’m Kylo Ren.” Or some version, where he comes out in the gear, uses the force to simply push her aside.  Then says how greatful he is to be there

3: Curio Shop Counter Salesperson:
Suavely selling things that look like they came from a garage sale, giving them historical/mythological importance. Selling things is an art. You must find what they want, who they are, settle desires.

4: Imogen Heap - Listening Chairs parody video:
This would just be something fun and weird to do, grabbing stuff in your apartment and singing about it happily/introspectively.

5: I want to be an astronaut (rap song): complete hyperbole either about being safe and able to do rad things after seeing the earth explode or coming back down to earth sharing secrets of the unknown.

Regular sketch pitches for the week:

North Korea: H bomb didn't really happen... Maybe a panelist conversation. What it could have been.

President of Universities Conference: "...and then the students asked if I cared" (everyone laughs). Anyway, how much did you raise tuition this yet?

Girl's Talk: Passive aggressive translator- "I like that shirt"

Bro Hunters: Two women on a mission to hunt down bros.  Go to a party, supposed "den of bros".

Preface: Wanting to write for SNL or some paid sketch comedy gig, every week I'll post  sketch ideas to keep the mind going.  Think of these as pitches.  By next week I'll hopefully have completely written one or two. The ideas range from G-rating to R and may not be suitable for SNL audiences but still... this is practice in being productive/proficient.

I'm thinking the first host for the 41st season will be

Adam Sandler

A few sketch pitches with him:

1: Weekend update: rendition of the song hannukah- why are you here Adam sandler? Because I’m famous and made a lot of money-kah, and I’m not sure if you knew it or not but I just voiced Dracula in my new movie Transylvania 2 with twice as much fun-ikah, and I just signed a sweet deal with Netflixica to make a few movie about whatever I want-ica, and that’s why I’m back-uh, back-uh, back-ica.

2: Everyone does an impression of Adam Sandler… BUT they get challenged to do some new Sandler-isms. Almost guru-like, “A true impressionist can follow along on the spot. Let’s see who amongst you can truly master the Adam Sandler”

3: Grown Ups 72: The gang’s all back, well at least some of them. Together at an old folks home, ready to cause some mischief in their old age.

4: Opening monologue: States how many alumni he’s worked with in the past.  Welcomes the new cast lets them know they could easily be in his next movie, all he asks is undying servitude (brings in Schneider, Spade, and such).

Regular sketch pitches for the week:

Honeymoon in the Gulag: here you will be beaten, waterboarded, and flogged. Later you will appeal to the un security council for help but be brutally denied and humiliated. OR: this gulag is a tourist attraction. Over here they filmed the latest muppet movie.  The gift shop is in the back.

But Shave commercial- (pronounced boot sha-vey). Premiere salon for shaving orificial hair, including butt hair.  With every third purchase you get a complementary penal wax.

Grouptext- four people on a couch texting each other, each person says their text out loud however. Small catty fights break out. Everything resolves in the end.

You Win! / You Lose! (Game Show): one contestant is asked to do some thing and then report back what they found in order to win or lose, example:

  • put in a money box and grabbing $300.
    • You win!
  • But on the back of the dollars there are all of these black dots.
    • Awe so sorry you grabbed the fake money. You suck and are a loser!
  • But I did find this gold brick while I was in there.
    • Ooooh! You found the super awesome mega prize. You are a winner!
  • You know for being a pound of gold it sure doesn’t weigh much.  Wait don’t tell me, it’s-
    • Fool’s gold. You are a loser!  Better luck next time.
  • Oh what’s this behind my ear, oh ho oh, a crumple up gift certificate to coney island for 5 dollars? That’s awesome!
    • Congratulations Just when you thought you sucked at luck, you won! You are a winner!
  • Well I didn’t win anything big but I’m glad I won something. This sure was fun. (tries to get out of the money box). Um. I think I’m having trouble getting out. And I think, hey, um, I think I’m having trouble breathing.
    • It looks like you stepped in the money box with a limited supply of oxygen.
  • Wait what?
    • Looks like you really do lose! (some variation of this idea)
Crime solvers– TV show premiere. One rookie detective decides to recruit three people obsessed with CSI and Law and Order shows. Sure they’re inexperienced, sure they’re not doctors, but they’ve watched over 40 seasons of CSI and law and order and they mean business. I think this is similar to episode 42.

Sketches this week:

1: The Quiet People. (A Game show)
  • We rounded up these five quiet people from around the neighborhood. Now it's your turn to tell us what kind of quiet person they are.
2: Old Man Jim
  • Successful Vlogger Old Man Jim shares more things he'd shake a stick at.
3: Black Twitter / Black Facebook (etc.

  • Sketch or news character monologue
  • See Huff Post Voices.
  • What White People Don't know about and how they're reacting to not knowing what they now know.
Possible Sketch/Monologue for: Chris Hemsworth

1. Hair Accessories (Commercial)
  • Are you bored with your current hairstyle? Maybe you've been asking yourself the wrong question.  What can I do with my hair? No. What can you do to accentuate your hair? I'm talking about accessories.  Have you ever thought about putting a ninja turtle in your hair? With these miniature TMNT figures in her hair, she gets all of the looks.
  • Some of you might think: gummy bears and peanut butter, won't that ruin my hair? not Chris Hemworth's specialized gummy bear and peanut butter hair blend.

Businesses offer the darndest things.  Boy am I ready for some smelling!
Preface: Wanting to write for SNL or some paid sketch comedy gig, every week I'll post 5-10 sketch ideas to keep the mind going.  Think of these as pitches.  By next week I'll hopefully have completely written one or two. The ideas range from G-rating to R and may not be suitable for SNL audiences but still... this is practice in being productive/proficient.

Sketches this week:

1: Shirts that barely cover your big fat torso and the people that wear them. (presented by the shopping channel)
  •  Hello, I'm your host.  Today's questions are the same: Who are you and what are you wearing today.
  •  imagine characters similar to the Robe Lowe portray in DirectTV commercials, random people with big bellies
  • I'm hottttttt.  (lady in a plaid mink fur and rubber boots)
  • I'm not fat I'm pregnant. "You're also a 50 year old man" Don't judge me. "Our mistake, you are clearly a gift of science or some other sort of witch craft."
2: Woman on a date: Feedback edition
  • Woman comes back from a date that she secretly tape for her friends to watch and give her feedback on.
  • A "he said this but actually meant this" and "while he said this he was doing this" which probably means he's probably hoping to get with your sister.  "Yeah never bring up that you have dumb but hotter sisters on the first date"
3: The Returning

  • Veteran decides it's time to returning body parts (eyes, ears) to the deceased person's family he/she took from a war, battle, catfight (y'know whatever)
  • Therapist said I probably shouldn’t keep them
  • I just kinda had them hanging around, sometimes as jewelry.
4: Hecklers Club
  • Club for hecklers prepping to heckle comedians (good tie in for Kyle Mooney's character)
5: Exercising with Demons
  • Person signs up for the wrong exercise class.
  • Now eat the soul of the demon next to you. "Hold up, wait"
Possible Sketch/Monologue for: Dakota Johnson

1. Song: Oh My - imagined from George Takei's reading of Fifty Shades of Grey

A phone sex operator Jilla played by Dakota Johnson, if possible- George Takei as the caller John. (Jilla's actions are filmed with a hint of eroticism)

Chorus of men sensuously ask:
What did you do today?  Walk me through your day.

Jilla: I woke out of bed.

John: Oh my, oh my.

Jilla: I brushed my teeeeeeeth

John: Oh my, oh my.

Jilla: I took a big dump

John: Oh my, oh my.

Jilla: I did a lot of dirty, dirty things today
Chorus of men sensuously ask:
What did you do today?  Walk me through your day.

2. Monologue
  • From IMDB is mentions her the Three things she always carries in her purse: keys, chap-stick, and candy. That has infinite possibilities but it probably means she's a spy.
Since you're here,
please check this 40sec sketch comedy short I filmed.

Yeah, I know. It needs an establishing shot at the beginning.

1: Dieting Commercial or Cafeteria scene:
  • Woman talking about needing to eat less you need to see less. The lunch area only has one portion in each dish and is replaced when she leaves.  Chooses to have only a half of a pea. Another woman goes up and chooses a breaded chicken where the lunch lady offers to cut the portion wanted and judges her for wanting more.
    • This much? This much? Oh you want the whole breaded chicken...
  • Etc.
2: Interview with Michelle Obama over food program-
  • Now let's talk about health, how many oyster crackers should be on a child's plate?
    • Three. One should be crushed and tossed on top of the other two to act as a bread-crumb accoutrement.  (so it's almost two starches)
  • Etc.
3: Game Show: Go Balls-in or Get Butt-Hurt About it:
  • Okay contestants, here you will given scenarios and have to choose whether to go balls-in or get butt-hurt about it.

4: What's Trending with Dan and Daisy Dunright.
  • (trending for women, trending for me)
  • Follow Dan down the Videohole- A mother of five vomiting on a dolphin: I spent like five hours thinking about it after. Cop saves waffle being murdered by a panda.

  • Follow Daisy- a firefighting dog saved an adorable kitten from a nasty kitchen fire, Sheila lied about being pregnant but loves to smell her own farts, etc.
Possible Sketch/Monologue for: Bradley Cooper
  • People just wanting him to do his Rocket character (from Galaxy of the Guardians)
  • American Sniper - lining up a shot with an annoying person nearby: crinkling bubble wrap, straw slurp, taking a dump with the wind going in that direction. Possibly played by Zach Galifinakis.
  • Director asking him to play a really mentally disturbed character I mean, I've seen you do Silvelinings Playbook and American Sniper but I'm gonna need you to dig deeper.  Here's some inspiration: you were twelve had no friends but you had a Talking Teddy Ruxpin doll but it didn't work quite right and sometimes it talked slow with a boinko eye and its words would slur together and tell you about deep, dark disgusting things void of magical adventures. It also had a greasy mustache and always asked to lick your hand. This was your best friend, teaching you otherworldly horrible things while you tried to get your life back together from being born with a pre-natal addiction to cocaine because of all the drugs your coked out mom used during the pregnancy. Oh, but you're happy and like walruses, try to incorporate that somehow.
    • that was oddly specific
  • does that help?
    • not at all
  • well then try to do the exact opposite of that
    • and what the hell would the exact opposite of that be? A Trix bunny jerking off in a corner? That's just friggin weirdo stuff man.
  • (or some other media friendlier version)

The ideas range from G-rating to R and may not be suitable for SNL audiences but still... this is practice in being productive/proficient.

Sketches this week:

1: GoKarting in the office (pre-filmed):
  • a complex shoot with at least 7 ppl in gokarts in an office. Not participating: An office manager (Mr. Ben Diggles) and Shelaylay event planner extraordinaire. Starts off with close ups of GoKart riders faces, dramatic music. Some of you have been working hard. Harder than hard. Some people quit, some people died, some people watched their families get up and leave on them, but you've stuck around. You've made it. And wide shot, everyone in gokarts.  Anywho... gokart race- each of the seven race cheap, hard, and awesomely.  Maybe one person's about to win but the boss (Mr. Ben Diggles) shadily poors out a flask of booze onto the "track" (with Shelaylay giving an approving nod) and that gokart goes flying off.
  • it'd be funny if Event Planner Extraordinaire was Shelaylay's last name and she actually works in the sanitation department but when the boss asks you to put together a hella' office party to keep your job you gotta do what you gotta do..
2: SNL: During the blizzard of 2015 (spoof documentary-
  •  During the blizzared of 2015 Lorne Michaels put the cast up in a ritzy hotel to stay safe.  This is the dramatic footage. (spoof documentary) too racy for SNL but "he put them all up in only two rooms" instead of female / male, it's black and white. wah wah.
  • prank calls
3: Monsters:
  • talking about their fiscal holdings (maybe 401k accounts)

Sketches for the Host this Week:

A bit late on the take this week so I didn't bother with sketches for this week's host and there won't be a show for a while because of the 40th anniversary... so I'm just going to make up a list of possibly hosts if the season continues and write sketches for a few of them in the future (unless new hosts are announced):

Rob Corrdry
Emily Watson, Emma Watson
Julianne Moore
A Rapper (choose a rapper)
Will Ferrel
Rihanna
Bradley Cooper
Kevin James

Sketches this week:

1: Mountain Climbing
  • Person mountain climbing finds a salesperson standing on a ledge with random supplies.  Can I have some popcorn?  Yes, you may have all of those thing. Shit I just dropped my wallet. But the guy catches it and throws it back at it. Misses it again. People higher up are dropping down.
2: Master Chef Junior (with one Thirty Year old) Parody-  (judges don't recognize thirty year old as an adult)
  • a thirty year old is in the top four in the Master Junior Chef challenge. His testimonials about the other contestants worsen: I hate that kid.  Kid: I'm pretty sure he's like 45. Kid2: I don't think he knows how to cook (man looking at stove, curiously) and he smells poopy.
  • Judge: a signature move- calling a five star restaurant and bringing in a full course meal.  Everyone's gotta strategy.  Judge 2: I really think that gives this guy a competitive advantage
  • Final: And you say you're 30. 30, wow. He's only thirty years old, yet this dish looks like it's been created by a gifted, talented 12 year old chef working at one of my premier restaurants, well done. Fantastic job.
3: Robert Downeys-
  • A drug. Selling drugs- Had too much cocaine, caffeine, speed? Sure, you could try Ritalin by I recommend Downeys.
  • See also: Need to be healthy ladies, the one mineral women don’t have enough of and I recommend taking is Iron, Man.
4: Creepy Enchanted Woods.
  • Half-human creatures taunting man to come into their enchanted woods and "party". "Nothing about this enchanted woods is haunted or creepy" "yeah, you come in here most of your organs will remain intact, unlike those other darker woods"
5:  Jannay- Life Coach / Relationship Expert
  • Usual advice to women: Get yourself a damn boyfriend. Follow up: How to train your boyfriend 2.
Host: Blake Shelton
I like to come up with one or two sketch ideas for the host

  • Something to do with his Supportive American Sniper Comments
  • Jesus on customer support

(alt version- I can't wait to put this on craigslist)
2: Ice cream parlor in a noir leather shop- awkwardness ensues

Pursuing the ultimate douchebag look-

  • Chicks, right? sometimes they just won't leave you alone. you're so damn good looking, What can you do bro? Well I'll tell you, give them one of them good old fashioned douchebage looks. For some people the douchebag look comes naturally, others like Milton here have to work at it. let's test out his look. Ladies, what do you think of this fine, sexy man? Oooh. Damnit! They love me! urg!  Try again man, but this time try grabbing your nuts, nodding your head, and grinning like idiot while saying hello. "Get away from us, douchebag!" It worked! "Congratulations my boy, you're now a man. You can pick up a fresh new pair of balls at the door"
4: Guard duty in a Hobbit movie
  • Two guys (boss and trainer) at a booth - must check orc's passports, make sure no illegal contraband is being shifted around, ask what anything crossing is going to go do/why they're visiting.
5:  Family Christmas Ornament Time

Host: Martin Freeman

Sketches for the host!  (see also my last post on who should be a host. #7)
  • Rap Song: "I'm a hobbit, Got it?"
    • played them all like a chump, walked around playin' dumb,
but that's right I'm the hobbit, I'm the only one,
not even twelve dwarves and a magician
      could do what I do,
      that's right, I'm the hobbit, got it;
turning trolls into stone, spiders into soup
      etc..
  • The Watson Group
    •  highly distinguished organization of Watsons whose soul purpose is to make Sherlock Holmes look good while still being absolutely superior in just about every way. Watson 4, how's that Mandarin coming along? (mandarin speak) - excellent. Watson 6 and 9 where are you going? Oh, nevermind. Watson 3, where's your list of witty comebacks? "That's what your mom said? Oh really, this isn't the National Lampoon." Moving on this is... Watson 7 tries punching Watson 8- not quite my dear boy.
    • bonus points for fitting in some version of: no, but you can Gargle my pan galactic blaster, good day sir!
  • hitch hiker's guide to the galaxy of the guardians. (obviously)
  • Monologue contribution: walks on with a towel.

Back from hiatus! Sketches this week:

1: Pre Sexual Harassment Crime Stopping. (could end up being a bunch of nut-crunchings)

2: Darren Wilson's thank you letter to Satan

3: Tony Blair's Christmas Card-

  • The photographer trying to get the couple to smile (can't we just do the picture we wanted to?)
  • Blair's actually wearing Suit-short pants and bunny slippers
4: Black Stormtrooper
  • Is this going to be like the whole black president thing?
5: Facebook's new privacy settings / terms of use
  • Guy in his apartment, people continuously come in and take stuff, gets a call from his mom- did you agree to the new terms of service? they're taking me away boy! Alien shows up for rectal probing, but at least I can use facebook.
6: Another episode of What’s in your food?
  • And here we have a good ol' American hamburger. what's in your food?
  • meat?
  • ooohhhh. Sorry. Not meat or something horrible and disgusting would have been acceptable
Host: James Franco

Sketches for the host!  (see also my last post on who should be a host. #7)
  • 127 Hours parody. It's been done and so should it be done again.
    • People asking logistical questions about it to James Franco (as if he actually went through the process)
  • Monologue: As many of you already know, I write poetry books now. Hey, didn't you just direct a movie? Oh that's right I also direct movies..  Is there anything you can't do?  There are lots of things I can't do. Can you heal this hideous boil on my neck? I do in fact have that power. Yes. Can you help me with this complex algebraic equation I've been toting around on this oversized chalkboard? Haven't you heard of the internet? ...no. Oh. Well then, the answer is...
  • The making of Stoner Movie: the stoner movie that never got finished (in the vein of Alejandro Jodorowsky's Dune)

  • Some weird, wild, and wonderful transvestite sketch

Sketch hiatus this week.  Too many life things going on!  Next week should be good!

Ok, one sketch- Marvel announcing phase 3 superhero movies.  Marvel exec in front of a crowd of superheroes. Ok, you're in.  you're in. come on over here you guys!  Who are you? the inhumans. Yeah sure, why not!  What's your backstory? I kill things? Sounds good, get on up here, etc. etc. etc. (DC character trying to sneak in- wrong room, wrong room, sorry)
Instead, just a bunch of possible hosts/reasonings for SNL:

1: John Mulaney- either to try and help boost ratings for his show or to keep up his presence (most likely has a project coming out)

2: at least one of these five timer club members: Tina Fey, Steve Martin, Alec Baldwin, John Goodman, Justin Timberlake- mid to late season pick-me-up.

3: Bill Murray- he's just been in the news a lot doing many cool, weird things. Might draw an interest.

4: Probably someone from Horrible Bosses 2. Most likely Bateman or Aniston.  Would say Sudeikis but this already seems like a former SNL castmember as host season (although he should get his turn if he wants it)

5: Octavia Spencer- because.

6: Someone from Game of Thrones: bets- Maisie Williams, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Sean Bean - popular show points.

7: James Franco- he made a documentary about SNL and it's on Hulu.

8: Christina Hendricks or one of the female leads from Mad Men - gear up to Mad Men finale points.

I don't keep up with music so it's anyone's guess. At least:

1: Lindsey Stirling

2: The Piano Guys (playing Cello Wars)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Wednesday, October 22, 2014

Preface: Wanting to write for SNL or some paid sketch comedy gig, every week I'll post 5-10 sketch ideas to keep the mind going.  Think of these as pitches.  By next week I'll hopefully have completely written one or two. The ideas range from G-rating to R and may not be suitable for SNL audiences but still... this is practice in being productive/proficient.

  • Uncosmo Magazine- Interview with the editor deciding this year's ten unhottest fools.
  • Scheduling- Administrative assistant asked to create dozens of meetings for one room, or person giving life story to admin who would be more than happy to just pencil the meeting in.
  • Fantastic Shoes- Father giving son "the fantastic shoes." No dad, they look, no. Just put them on son. Those are some fantastic shoes (magical dance shoes).
  • Interview with Obama- Just what are these qualifications of this Ebola Czar? How many Czars do we even have these days?
  • The Really Super Early Show- Bloodshot hosts, discussing why anyone would want to be up at this godforsaken hour.
  • Garbage Teller- Garbage can tell a lot about you.  Let's find out what we can learn from the garbage at our producer's family house.
  • The Reason or Excuse Game Show- where contestants have to figure out if something's a reason or an excuse.  “I keep click this goddamn button and nothing is happening” “um, yeah I couldn’t figure it out.”  I’m sorry I’m running late my kid vomited all over my dog and I slipped in it and part of it got in my mouth It was all over the place, it was disgusting.” “there was this thing”  “Traffic” "I shot my boyfriend" "oh, I thought you were going to do it"

Sketches for the Host: Chris Rock
  • Monologue. Listing all the things that can happen in 18 years. (hasn't been on SNL in 18 years). Why not try to get all of the past SNL black people onstage? (how likely would that happen?) / joke.
  • Game Show: What do black people like? Three white people must get 3 answers correct in order to get their stolen car back.  You've won! Oh my god, I didn't think you could do it. You whiteys are on a roll, you guy's are hot! Why not try for our bonus round where you can actually win some cash. Ready for the question? Ok, "What do you think the condition of your car is going to be in when we give it back to you?"
  • Obama's distant cousin visits the White House

  • Sweet Together- Something akin to the Jan Hooks Phil Hartman sketch they pulled or something like Steve Martin and Gilda Radner's sketch way back when where they're at a bar looking at each other and enter an imaginative atmosphere where they dance together both professionally and for fun.  A portrayal of earnestness rarely seen on TV.
