Preface: Wanting to write for SNL or some paying sketch comedy TV gig… it’s important to keep up with the activity.  There isn’t a much better way than practicing to a standard, in this case I'll be using SNL's.  As mentioned in my writing goals list, SNL asks its writers to pitch sketch ideas on Monday and have fleshed out sketches early Wednesday morning.  So… every week I will try to pitch aboot 5-10 sketch ideas.  See what people think about them and choose 1-3 to write (everything depending on time).

Sketches to Possibly Write this Week:
  •  Exercises for the Disabled
    • Yoga for the quadriplegic
  • Detroit's Bankruptcy and it's new super fly Emergency Financial Manager aka sometimes called or referred to as "overseer" of all things without accountability.
  •  A young child-esque show.
  •  Argo parody- infiltrating something ridiculous.
  • Another hour of... Staring at Walls!  Weird people looking at different walls. Commentary included.
  • A scene where people are spray painting things.
  • Stay Tuned for Good Cop, Banana Cop
  • Art Snobbery
  •  Magical Beef Factory
    • "We're the world's largest producer of magical beef"
    • "Horse the other white beef"
    • Possibly taste testing, perhaps a a tour group gets free sample testing or something.
  • Political Game Show- random categories:
    • "Goosing and Gathering"
    • "I'm a Little Slut"
    • "Children"
    • "Most racist legislation"
    • "I'm a very bad person and should go straight to hell"
    • Final round: "Eating a Tuna Sandwich while laying naked in a bathtub full of jello"
    • Would have a female host

Progress from last week's sketches:

I wrote:

  • Vengeful Cat
  • Multi-Tentacle Monster Blackout
  • Priest Blackout
Why don't I post them on here? Hmm... a copyright thing, I s'pose. Worry aboot people stealing lines and fully-fleshed ideas.  Stealing these small bits isn't as a big a worry as there could be a large divergence in what I wrote.  Also, maybe I don't to give a better surprise for later in case I can produce/film them.
So, in general, why am I showing off these ideas? To illustrate that I keep coming up with new ones, each week to test out.  One-hit wonder-stuff is Boo-Shit.

Same note from before: my blog is still in the works, some sections aren't up / still being developed.

  1. I definitely want to see "Staring at Walls" and "Good Cop, Banana Cop". Would the Magical Beef Factory be Willy Wonka style? Maybe some small Oompa Loompa type characters that were butchers, chefs, etc. A river of blood drained from the slaughtered animals that they ride a boat made of bones down. The "everlasting gobstopper" is now the "bouillon cube of infinity" or something. "The dogberries taste like dogberries!" You know, stuff like that.
